Apture is a great addition to any website that provides and there is now a creator/builder tool that allows you to collate and embed resources in any webpage without the need to install any apture related plugins.

The apture creator tool quickly allows the collation of a range of resources into an embeddable “collection” (or “super embed”) as shown below:

The simple example above collates some wikipedia, YouTube and flickr resources together with an external website link (example included above includes a link to the “My Angels Teachers Pack”.

Using apture is very straightforward where resources can be searched (from a selection of approximately 50 sources), added and reordered. Some nice touches in the interface include, amongst others:

  • Ability to select start and end times from video clips (where supported)
  • Ability to search by “any” or “freely licenced” (including Creative Commons)
  • Ability to add a pin to a map and set the default view

There are some nice examples on preset “super embeds” on the apture website although no easy way for other people to embed a previously created “super embed” other than “viewing source” for these examples? (this embed above has a create and share link in the footer).

More info on apture is available from their website and crunchbase profile.

re: Using Apture to collate resources and <embed> in any page

Wow – what a good find.
I hate Snap for example and I would have thought Apture is similar but it looks pretty awesome actually
I think it could bee a very good alternative to some wikipedia links on my site (which I reluctantly “blank target” to avoid visitors leaving my pages – but its not ideal).. Or even other stuff to enrich user’s experience!
