What Matters Now is a free e-book from Seth Godin (@ThisIsSethsBlog) containing thoughts/ideas from 70 big thinkers.
Seth Godin (@ThisIsSethsBlog) has been in contact with 70 “big thinkers” (shown in the wordcloud below) who each shared an idea to be included in his new free e-book “What Matters Now”
A Squidoo “lens” page for the book with related links is also available.
Each of the “big thinkers” presents their idea succinctly on a single page.
Just a few of my favourites:
- dignity - Jacqueline Novogratz “We are too poor to afford education. But until we have education, we will always be poor” –Nepalese teacher
- meaning – Hugh MacLeod
- connected – Howard Mann “The echo chamber we’re building is getting larger and louder.”
- vision – Michael Hyatt “When times are tough, vision is the first causality. Before conditions can improve, it is the first thing we must recover.”
- 1% - Jackie Huba and Ben McConnell “The One Percenters are not the usual suspects of namebrand tech bloggers, mommy bloggers and or business bloggers. The One Percenters are often hidden in the crevices of niches, yet they are the roots of word of mouth.”
- ripple – John Wood “Educate a girl, and you educate her children and generations to follow.”
- power – Jeffrey Pfeffer “Power provokes ambivalence. Power-seeking is politically incorrect. So power remains cloaked in mystery and emotion, the organization’s last dirty secret.
- neoteny – Joichi Ito “When we are young, we learn, we socialize, we play, we experiment, we are curious, we feel wonder, we feel joy, we change, we grow, we imagine, we hope.In adulthood, we are serious, we produce, we focus, we fight, we protect and we believe in things strongly.”
- context – Jeff Jonas “When information is evaluated without context—regardless of highly sophisticated analytics, an infinite amount of compute, energy or time, little if any relevance can be established with certainty.”
